Tom was part of the litigation team from Figliulo & Silverman that obtained a $41.7 million jury verdict on behalf of Flint Hills Resources, LLC against BP Amoco Chemical Co., following an eight-week trial in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois (Chicago Daily Law Bulletin article).
Tom was part of the trial team that obtained a $27.5 million verdict in Cook County Circuit Court on behalf of Walsh Construction (Chicago Daily Law Bulletin article).
Tom and attorney Mike Desmond secured a judgment in favor of their clients in a bench trial in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois involving objections to discharge and dischargeability of debt.
Tom obtained a favorable verdict in a single-chair jury trial in the Circuit Court of Lake County, Ill. The trial involved a jury determination of just compensation for IDOT’s taking of a portion and the temporary use of another portion of property.
Tom was selected as a Leading Lawyer in the January 2019 edition of Leading Lawyers Network Magazine, a publication of the Law Bulletin Publishing Company. The Leading Lawyer designation, which is limited to less than five percent of the attorneys in Illinois, is determined by a survey of all licensed attorneys in the state, followed by interviews, verification and the approval of the Leading Lawyers Advisory Board. Tom was selected in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 as an Emerging Lawyer by the Leading Lawyers division of the Law Bulletin Publishing Company. That designation represents the top 2% of lawyers in Illinois under 40 years old or practicing less than 10 years as named by their peers in statewide surveys. He also coauthored an article titled “Contract Dispute and Resolution,” which was published in the Swiss Business Hub’s Legal Handbook for Doing Business in the United States.
