Michael K. Desmond

Michael Desmond is a partner in the law firm of Figliulo & Silverman, concentrating his practice in the areas of commercial litigation, bankruptcy law, creditor’s rights and real estate. Prior to joining the firm in 1998, Mike served as an attorney with the United States Department of Justice, Office of the United States Trustee, where he handled a variety of bankruptcy-related litigation and complex business reorganizations.

Mike has experience in handling a variety of complex business matters, including accounting malpractice, shareholder litigation, construction litigation, bankruptcy reorganizations and bankruptcy related litigation. In addition, Mike has trial experience in both federal and state court.

Mike is a Certified Public Accountant, and is an adjunct faculty member at DePaul University College of Law where he teaches Financial Accounting. Prior to becoming an attorney, Mike served as the Assistant Controller for Mid America Bank.

Mike received his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Northern Illinois University in 1983, and his law degree from The John Marshall Law School in 1992. He is a member of the Seventh Circuit Bar Association and the American Bankruptcy Institute.

Mike has been recognized by his peers as a leading lawyer in commercial litigation.
