Thomas D. Warman is an associate in the firm of Figliulo & Silverman. Tom concentrates his practice in commercial litigation, with an emphasis in business torts and contract disputes.
Tom received his bachelor's degree, magna cum laude, in History and Criminal Justice from Carthage College, which he attended as a Lincoln Scholar. Tom received his law degree from the University of Illinois College of Law, cum laude, in 2003. In his second year of law school, Tom was admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois and served as co-lead counsel representing the plaintiff in a jury trial before U.S. District Court Judge Michael P. McCuskey (Webber v. DCFS, No. 00-cv-2128). In his third year of law school, Tom worked as assistant coach for the College of Law’s mock trial team and was President of the Phi Alpha Delta law fraternity.
Tom was part of the litigation team that obtained a $41.7 million jury verdict on behalf of Flint Hills Resources, LLC against BP Amoco Chemical Co. The verdict was returned in November 2009 following an eight-week trial before U.S. District Court Judge Amy St. Eve in the Federal District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Tom obtained a favorable verdict in a single-chair jury trial before the Honorable Henry C. Tonigan in the Circuit Court of Lake County, Illinois. The trial involved a jury determination of just compensation for IDOT’s taking of a portion and the temporary use of another portion of property. The case is IDOT v. Muller, et al., No. 03 ED 46 and the verdict was returned in July 2005.
Tom is the co-author of an article entitled “Contract Dispute and Resolution” published in the Swiss Business Hub’s Legal Handbook for Doing Business in the United States.
